A pioneer and highly-respected leader in the Banking industry, Miriam Lopez serves as President and Chief Lending Officer at Marquis Bank, a position she has held since August 2010. Her career in the banking industry has spanned over three decades and she continues to prove herself and break barriers in a predominantly male industry. 

Miriam previously served as chief executive officer of TransAtlantic Bank for 24 years and as TransAtlantic's chairman of the board from 2003 to 2007, when the bank was acquired by Banco Sabadell, Spanish’s fourth-largest bank.

In 2001, Miriam made history as the first Cuban-American woman President of the Florida Bankers Association. She has been a director of FHL Bank of Atlanta since 2008 and is currently Chair of the Collateral and Member Services Committee, member of the Risk Enterprise Committee and Housing Committee. She also sits on the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC) for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Locally, Miriam sits on the Board of Directors for Doctors Hospital.

Throughout her career, Miriam has received numerous awards and recognitions for her achievements in the banking industry. In 2006, she was inducted into the Miami-Dade College Alumni Hall of Fame and was named “Banker of the Year” by the Cuban-American Bankers Association. The next year, she received the Hispanic Magazine Latina of Excellence” award and was inducted into the Florida International University Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.

In addition to her professional accolades and industry memberships, Mrs. Lopez is philanthropically committed to the community, more specifically, the education of young adults in South Florida.
