Zalmi Duchman

Fresh Diet
Founder & CEO

Zalmi Duchman is an angel investor, entrepreneur and food-tech pioneer as the founder and CEO of Fresh Diet. He began operations on January 1, 2006 with three clients. While Duchman "shopped and dropped," his wife "cooked and packed." Today, he has grown his business to become the largest U.S. food producer in the freshly-prepared, daily delivery category - which now delivers meal plans to thousands of clients nationwide.

Consequently, Duchman and The Fresh Diet have earned numerous prestigious accolades over the years, including making the Inc. 500 list consecutively in 2010, 2011 and 2012, the Forbes Top 20 Most Promising U.S. Companies List in 2011 and 2012, as well as being an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year nominee in both 2009 and 2011. The Miami Herald recently named Duchman as one of Miami’s leading 20 under 40. Duchman recently re-acquired Fresh Diet back after a publicly traded company acquired it in mid 2014.

Duchman helped the company achieve high profile exposure by securing national placements without a PR company or fees. By using social media in its early years, Fresh Diet landed on The View twice and was named U.S. Weekly magazine's “Diet of the Year,” twice. Duchman starred in a company TV commercial for Chase bank as well as rung the bell at the NYSE as part of Startup America's entrepreneurs of the year. Fresh Diet was named as a top 100 SBA Company as well as had their winning video submission played at the National SBA conference. In April 2012, Duchman had the privilege to attend the President's signing of the Startup Act in the Rose Garden. Duchman has been actively following the crowdfunding space while staying current with the exciting opportunities it now brings to the average investor.

While Duchman was not running his company, from 2013 to 2016, he invested his time and money in early stage start-ups. His primary focus for investments and advisory positions are in food-tech, IoT (Internet of Things), Uber X models, sharing community models and electric bicycles.

Duchman is active in the startup community and is on the board of Miami Entrepreneur Development Organization (MEDO) and is a mentor for startups at Venture Hive (www.venturehive.co) an incubator/accelerator in Downtown Miami. Duchman has spoken at numerous small business events such as Inc. Magazine's GrowCo Conference and other high profile business conferences as well as Ivy League Universities like MIT. Duchman is currently a contributor for Forbes.com.

Born in Brooklyn, Duchman has lived in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Israel. He attended school in Miami until reaching high school. He then attended a Yeshiva boarding school in Los Angeles where he met his roommate, Yosef Schwartz, with whom he started Fresh Diet. Duchman is a board member of the BSF Friendship Circle, a special needs children charity. Duchman, 35, married his wife Leah in June, 2001 and has three children.
